If you've a mind to removing the subaru power steering and strong arming your steering wheel, here's the belt that you'll replace the suby one with.... The shorter belt you can use is Duralast # 275K4, available at AutoZone You can get rid of the PS pump and use a shorter belt. There is a 4-rib 27" belt that works well. At the auto parts store, the belts are designated by number of ribs and length in inches, and each manufacturer has a different code like 270K4 or 5040270. It has one less rib than the stock belt, but it is also turning one less accessory so it works well. -Hans East Coast Vanagon http://www.vanaru.com You can easily remove the Subie PS pump from the bracket. Undo the 3 bolts behing the pulley, the ones at 3, 6, and 9 o'clock. (you need to leave the bracket on for the alt. tensioner) "Paul Guzyk"
